Mission

The mission of Wildlife Services is to safeguard public health and safety, and to protect Sacramento County agriculture, industrial, and natural resources through the science and practice of wildlife animal damage control.

Program

  • Wildlife Services is a cooperative program among the United States Department of Agriculture, State Department of Food and Agriculture, State Department of Health, and Sacramento County and is responsible for the control of non-domestic animals, such as skunks, opossums, raccoons, beavers, coyotes, and damaging birds that pose a threat to human or animal health and safety, or cause damage to property or livestock.
  • There is a small fee for the service to help offset the program expenses. The basic charge is $20 for trap placement plus an animal removal charge depending upon species and disposition.
  • To contact the Federal Trapper assigned to Sacramento County call (916) 875-6603 weekdays between the hours of 7:30am and 8:30am.
